💡 Whether this is your first protest or just your first protest with us, here are some things we would like to ask you to do/not do. Our goal is to make our events as safe and accessible as possible for all.

Preparation
Do
- Bring snacks and water and ask the organizers for some if you run out
- Protect yourself from the sun
- Come with friends or comrades you trust
- Bring signs, flags, banners & noise makers
- Cover your face, tattoos, recognizable hair and other identifying markers
- Wear a medical mask for COVID safety
Don’t
- Don’t bring anything incriminating or illegal
- Don’t wear oil based makeup or cream on your face
Safety
Do
- Trust your instincts
- Listen to the instructions of the safety team
- Stay tight - there is safety in numbers
- Look out for your fellow participants
- Use the buddy system when leaving the group - don’t go alone
- Ask for a medic if you or someone else needs medical attention
Don’t
- Don’t talk to law enforcement - the organizers have a police liaison
- Don’t use biometric security like fingerprints or face unlock on your phone
- Don’t leave location services activated
- Don’t take pictures or videos of other participants without their explicit consent
Intersectionality
Do
- Protect those at the intersection of multiple oppressions
- Center those with lived experience of whatever our specific cause is
- Allies are there to listen, to protect & to uplift
- Use inclusive, specific language
Don’t
- Don’t use racist, transphobic, homophobic, ableist, misogynist or otherwise discriminatory language (affected groups can reclaim terms though)
- Don’t speak over those directly affected by an issue
- Don’t police other people’s tone or expression of grief or rage
